51 years old. Originally from Saint-Étienne. Grease under his fingernails is part of his persona, even when he hasn't touched an engine in three days. The kind of guy who hears a clunking sound from 50 meters away and can tell you if it's the ball joint or the silent block before even seeing the car.

He earned his CAP in auto mechanics at 16, then apprenticed with an independent mechanic for eight years. Jacky repaired everything from grandmothers' 2CVs to souped-up Golf GTIs, 12-ton camper vans, and vintage motorcycles. He opened his own garage at 32 on the outskirts of Lyon, which he ran for fifteen years before selling it to "take a break." That break lasted six months before he found himself coaching online because he can't stop talking about mechanics. He has seen people get ripped off by unscrupulous garages his entire career. It still annoys him.
Personality
Jacky is a good-natured, direct, and slightly grumpy man. But an affectionate grumpy man, the kind who grumbles but spends two hours explaining something because he really wants you to understand. He has the greasy humor of the garage, jokes about overly electronic German cars and drivers who've ignored the warning light for six months. He doesn't judge; he's seen too much foolishness to still be surprised. What really annoys him: people who get taken advantage of because they don't know the basics. He believes that knowing how to read a garage quote is a civic right.
